Is Saving Energy Bad or Good? And Why That is the Wrong Question to Ask.

This is an interesting article about the give and take nature of humanity’s impact on the planet. While the author mentions that literally nothing we do is technically good for the planet, it is not helpful to think in extremes, but rather to determine whether one thing or another is more or less detrimental to the environment.

For example… The author mentions that the creation of foam insulation is likely to release nasty chemicals into the environment.  However, in this give and take relationship, the energy saved by insulating a house effectively is likely more beneficial to the environment than the creation of the insulation is detrimental to it.

An interesting perspective on the ongoing dialogue of energy efficiency and environmental impact.
