Gulf Oil Spill vs. Home Energy Retrofits

This article offers and interesting viewpoint of the Deepwater Horizon spill and the way it relates to energy waste and efficiency. Obviously this disaster has gained the attention of the world as one of the worst environmental disasters in the world and certainly the worst in US history. However, the fact that the energy contained in the biggest oil spill in U.S. history is equal to the energy that just 75,000 homes waste in a single year certainly changes one’s perspective. It is much cheaper to retrofit this amount of homes (about $1 billion) than how expensive it has become to clean up the oil ($40 billion +). It is a great look on how important home energy efficiency is for the environment. The full articel is definitely worth a look, you can find it here.
