Water uses Energy. Energy uses Water.

Energy and water have an interesting co-dependent relationship that is important to consider when trying to live a green life. The use of either affects the other… as it does our environment and your wallet.

Water Uses Energy.

When water is heated, it uses energy. Saving hot water translates directly into saving water-heating energy. Start saving hot water through frugal use of your water taps, showers and tubs, and dish and clothes washing appliances.

Less tangibly, the production of water, its treatment and distribution of your home takes a substantial amount of energy. Thus, if you use less of it, it will cost the energy company less to produce it, and presumably your water bill be less accordingly.

Energy Uses Water

It takes water to make energy. For the most part this is true because traditional electric power plants boil water to turn their turbines. A large volume of water is removed from natural sources for this purpose. Thus, saving energy reduces the amount of water needed for its production.
