Will Incandescent Bulbs Disappear?

The last GE factory in the United States manufacturing incandescent bulbs will be closing its doors later this month. Most incandescent bulbs will be banned in the US by 2014, and other countries across the globe are enacting similar legislation.

Kind of humorously, there is a growing demand for bare filament bulbs as trendy decor for upscale restaurants, bars, venues and etc. For some, these filament bulbs are thing of luxury or a vestige of times past, but in reality they are wildly less efficient than contemporary CLF’s. Their banning is a step forward for an energy efficient and sustainable world.
