Jefferson Parish Weatherization Assistance Program

The Weatherization Assistance Program is authorized by the National Energy Conservation Act and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Act of 1981. It is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Administered for the State of Louisiana by the Louisiana Housing Finance Agency. The Jefferson Community Action Programs is the local provider for services for Jefferson Parish.

The Weatherization Assistance Program will perform work on eligible households to reduce energy costs and to make the house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Eligible households with children 17 years and younger and/or elderly and/or handicapped persons will be priority in determining the order a house will be placed on the waiting list. Work may include attic insulation, caulking, weatherstripping, window and door repair for persons living in a house or mobile home. To be eligible, the total income for all persons in the household must be at or below 200 percent of the 2009 Poverty Guidelines.

Applications are taken Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the following Jefferson Community Action Programs Agencies.
